One of two Grinch quilts made for Christmas for the little ladybugs

It was a great 2011 Christmas season! I managed to completing two quilts for my little guys before Christmas. They are made with the How the Grinch Stole Christmas fabric line. A wonderful warm flannel fabric and cute grinchy love!

Its a new year and the sewing machine is taking a well deserved break now. I’m attending a metal smithing course on weekends and am excited to be learning how to make a sterling silver band ring. Here’s to 2012 and learning new things.

It was nice to take a little time to enjoy nature with one of my boys. We found this on a tree and had fun taking some pictures.

Coastal flooding

Not too long ago we had a storm associated with higher than normal tides. We experienced some coastal flooding. We took this picture in our neighbourhood.

Value Village Costume Contest our entry

It was a lot of fun to create this costume and to keep the cost down I used all items found at Value Village. I started with a used dragon costume from Value Village. Created and hand-sewed the shell and cones on the back. My sewing machine was used to create the arm bands and facial features. We think it turned out great!

Fresh Herbs

Barrel stave herb sign

I have a very small herb garden in my backyard, it is home to oregano, thyme, lemon balm and also a grape vine. There are some other plants crammed in like poppy, strawberry and dead nettle. It has been looking pretty shaggy, so I decided to put up a sign to show that it is actually an herb garden and not a weed garden!

The sign is created from a vintage barrel stave from Newfoundland. My husband said it was special to him so I thought I should use it for something we would see frequently. I used my cricut to create a stencil and painted the words Fresh Herbs on the stave.

I am quite pleased with the results. Hope you enjoy.
