Exploring Fruit Challenge: Passion Fruit

The Passion Fruit is the next fruit in our Exploring Fruit Challenge. If you are unfamiliar with our Fruit Challenge, visit this link to see how it began.

The Passion Fruit is a purplish fruit that is about the size of a lime. Ours came wrapped in plastic from the grocery store. It is easy to serve the passion fruit by slicing it in half and scooping the seeds with a spoon. The seeds are coated in a thick jelly. And, with a yummy taste, the Passion Fruit didn’t last very long at our house. It was an instant hit.

I have learned that Passion Fruit, also called the Purple Granadilla, is a relative to the Yellow Granadilla. It is grown in frost free areas and in Vietnam, Passion Fruit is blended with honey and ice to create refreshing smoothies. Doesn’t that sound delish?
